Leung Kee Pai Dong

Leung Kee Pai Dong Store: Fan Bo's store is a one-stop shop, with tortoise food, paintings, and birds. He also does shoe repair and sells jewelry. He strongly emphasizes that everything he knows is self-taught - he used to even be able to make a whole pair of shoes. Whenever you go to see him, he's always quietly repairing shoes, seemingly never stopping. He says that in his younger days he used to go to Macau with a group to sketch, but pursuing art requires financial means, so in the end he could only treat painting as a hobby, being self-taught. Just like shoemaking, he feels that if you don't know how to do something, you have to learn.

The first time I met him, he gave me a painting of his store that someone else had done. The second time, he gave me a collection of his own sketches that he had compiled. Liang Sheng says that he only started doing shoe repair after retiring, and has been at it for over 20 years now. In his free time, he most enjoys decorating the store, painting, and doing design work. He exercises every week, playing ping pong and swimming with old friends. He said he could tell I was an artist just by looking at my fingers, because they're long and slim, just like his. As I was leaving, I politely wished him good health and prosperous business. Liang Sheng immediately said, "You don't need to wish for prosperous business, just don't let there be too much business." Indeed, living a peaceful life is enough.

Leung Kee Pai Dong is a unique small shop in Hong Kong that has been committed to providing various services and goods to the local community for many years. This store is operated by Uncle Fan, who can be described as a Renaissance man who engages in shoe repair, merchandise sales, and artistic creation. Uncle Fan is also an amateur painter who loves artistic creation and has participated in painting outings in Macau. Although he has had no formal art training, he has created many works through self-learning and interest.

Unfortunately, the operating license for Leung Kee Pai Dong will soon expire, which means this unique small shop may have to close down in the near future. Many local people are sad to see the end of this warm and personable small shop and the story of its founder, Uncle Fan.
