Hello! Welcome to the Old Neighbourhood Jade.
In this bustling Tsuen Wan Chung On Street Market, we are like a sparkling gem. Today, with the scarcity of jade, we are your jade shelter and repair shop, providing a new life for those damaged jades. Under the light and shadow of jade, this is where the neighbours come every day to put down their worries and appreciate jade craftsmanship. A jade living museum in the market, in addition to displaying the changes in jade craftsmanship and industry, also savours the stories of the guests who deposit their jades with us, each of which is at least five generations of family stories.
I can still remember the first meeting, Miss Chan and her mother handed the emerald jade to Mr. Au, saying that they wanted to order a bracelet for next month’s wedding. In the blink of an eye, Miss Chan became Mrs. Cheung, carrying a baby in her arms, pulling a bag of choy sum on one side, and putting the bracelet back into the hands of our craftsman, saying that she wanted to transform the bracelet into a gift for her baby daughter. From one to two, it became a parent-child jade jewellery. The next time we meet again, it should be a good 20 years. I haven’t seen Mrs. Cheung this time. The daughter brought her mother’s earrings and hoped to become a pair of wedding rings. Last week, a young lady brought the wedding ring pair and asked if there was any way to transform the rings into a brooch. It turned out that her father had passed away two years ago, and her mother was going to have her 60th birthday next month, hoping to make a lasting gift for her mother.
One piece of jade, infinite changes, modifications, connecting several generations, becoming a memory of home.
From jade to see family history and life changes, let our jade shop, this forever sparkling gem in the Chung On Street Market, keep your family story for you.
